Mattel will be reportedly releasing a limited edition Dia de Muertos-theme Barbie doll in honor of the approaching Mexican holiday, also known as "Dia de los Muertos" or "Day of the Dead" in English.

According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, the new doll reflects Mattel's recent efforts to showcase more inclusion in the Barbie line-up. Notably, Mattel recently released dolls based on civil rights icon Rosa Parks and Mexican artist Frida Kahlo as part a part of the "Barbie Inspiring Women" Series, with the hope that the historical figures behind the dolls would serve as role models for young girls.

Deviating from Barbie's blonde California girl look, the “Barbie Día de Muertos" doll has dark hair tied in braids and dons a long, black dress decorated with marigolds, skulls and butterflies, all of which are symbols of the holiday. The doll also has a Calavera (or skull) face paint and a crown of marigolds, as well as butterflies perched on her hand and her crown. Ultimately, she appears to be inspired by the popular La Calavera Catrina holiday costume.

Dia de Muertos begins on Oct. 31 and ends on Nov. 2. The doll is slated to be released on Sept. 12, just in time for the holiday. According to Revelist, it will retail for $75 through Walmart.
