Billy Russo's life has shattered. In the new teaser officially announcing the Jan. 18 release of Marvel's The Punisher, the antagonist attempts to put together the scattered pieces of his mind. However, he's not the only one: Frank Castle also struggles to come to terms with his identity and his life's trajectory.

"Someone told me once life is just trying not to be lonely," Castle says in a voiceover as he dons his signature vest emblazoned with the skull insignia. "Every time I try to put the pieces together, something won't fit. ... You need to let me be what I'm meant to be. I'm not the one who dies. I'm the one who does the killing."

"It's like a bomb went off inside my mind, scattering all the pieces," Russo laments. As the camera pans around him, he unravels the bandages around his face and screams. "There's something on the edges -- someone, like a dark shadow, waiting for me. This face has everything that I ever did wrong. I'm not over it!"

Although Russo won't go by his famous "Jigsaw" moniker on the Netflix series, the teaser includes plenty of references to it. For one, Russo refers to his mind like a puzzle: scattered into pieces. Additionally, a smattering of random text at the end of the teaser spells out "Saw 1" before transitioning to the series release date.

Here's the Season 2 synopsis, courtesy of Netflix:

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.

Arriving Jan. 18 on Netflix, The Punisher Season 2 stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, Floriana Lima as Krista Dumont and Giorgia Whigham as Amy Bendix.
