Black Panther star Letitia Wright has been nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Wright played Shuri in Black Panther. The younger sister to Prince T'Challa, aka Black Panther, she served as one of his closest confidants, as well as the tech genius behind his more advanced technologies. Wright (along with most of the rest of the cast) received accolades for their work in the film, and now she's getting award recognition.

Deadline reports that Wright is one of the five actors and actresses nominated for the Rising Star Award at the upcoming BAFTA Awards. The other nominees in the category this year are Widows actress Cynthia Erivo, American Animals actor Barry Keoghan, Sorry To Bother You star Lakeith Stanfield and Wild Rose lead Jessie Buckley

Wright's Black Panther co-star Daniel Kaluuya won the award last year, and her drama school classmate (and one of the leads of the new Star Wars trilogy) John Boyega won in 2016. Hopefully this bodes well for Wright. Black Panther was one of the most successful films of 2018 both financially and critically and has quickly become an Awards season favorite.

The BAFTA Awards will be held on February 10, 2019.
