Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases today, and so does its first patch.

A day-one patch for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as arrived alongside of the game’s release.

The patch isn’t unexpected, as Nintendo announced previously one would drop containing hard difficulty for World of Light, which is the Adventure mode.

Those picking the game up today, or downloading it on Switch through the eshop, might wish to give the notes below a read. If your Switch is connected to the internet, the update will download and install automatically.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 1.1

Offline Gameplay

  • Added a Hard difficulty to Adventure mode.

Online Gameplay

  • Online now includes Quickplay, Battle Arenas, Spectate, and Background Matchmaking.
  • Global Smash Power will now be displayed.
  • Note that the above requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Game Data Adjustments

  • The ability to receive spirit event data has been added.
  • The ability to receive presents has been added.

DLC Content

  • The special bonus for the Fighters Pass, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Rex’s Mii Fighter costume (Swordfighter type), has been added.

Miscellaneous

  • Game balance adjustments.
  • Various gameplay fixes.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 1.1 must be applied in order to use the game’s Internet features, and in order to play with others in Local Wireless Battles, all players must be using the same version.

Replay data from previous versions is not compatible with the newest version, so be sure to convert your replays by going to Vault in the main menu and selecting “Convert to Video” before updating the software.

Finally, save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
